William Monahan, the Oscar-winning screenwriter of 'The Departed', is to pen the screenplay for the film version of the new John Grisham bestseller 'The Associate'.
Variety reports the 'The Associate' tells the story of a Yale Law School student (Shia LaBeouf) with a secret which comes to the attention of blackmailers.
He is then forced by his blackmailers to take a job at a law firm and work on a multibillion-dollar lawsuit.
Monahan will soon direct Colin Farrell and Keira Knightley in the film version of Irish author Ken Bruen's thriller 'London Boulevard'.
LaBeouf will next be seen on Irish cinema screens in 'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen'; it opens on Friday, 26 June.
