'CSI: Crime Scene Investigation' star Gerald McCullouch has been attacked on a New York subway.

According to People magazine, the 41-actor, who played firearms expert Bobby Dawson on the show, was attacked by a mugger wielding a knife.

McCulloch reportedly told the New York Daily News that the attacker tried to steal his laptop and "dash out the door".

However, the actor, who is also a boxer, fought back against the mugger.

McCullouch said that the knife used in the attack "must have had a blade 10 inches long".

"The other passengers started running out the door and into the next car," he said.

The actor did not receive any injuries in the struggle.

A suspect was later arrested and charged with possession of a weapon, robbery and assault.
