Singer Boy George has been sentenced to 15 months in jail after previously being found guilty of imprisoning a male escort.
The singer, real name George O'Dowd, was accused of handcuffing the male escort to a wall and beating him with a metal chain.
The judge at Snaresbrook Crown Court in east London condemned Mr O'Dowd's "premeditated", "callous", and "degrading" drug-fuelled actions, which had "traumatised" his victim.
He also said that 29-year-old Norwegian escort Audun Carlsen had been "denied his dignity".
Mr O'Dowd's brother David said today that the singer did not give evidence to protect his mother.
He told the Daily Mirror that his brother told him: "I know the likelihood is I am going to go to prison but I couldn't do it, for mum's sake..."
