RTÉ has dominated the Christmas television ratings, with nine of the Top 10 programmes on Christmas Day broadcast on RTÉ Television.

RTÉ's 'Killinaskully - The Emergency' was the top rating entertainment programme* across all Irish television channels on Christmas Day, with an average audience of 757,000 viewers.

The soap 'EastEnders' drew audiences of 672,000 and 640,000 with its two Christmas Day episodes while the one-hour 'Fair City' Christmas special was watched by 520,000 people.

RTÉ’s 'Nine O'Clock News' was the highest rating programme on Christmas Night, attracting an audience of 760,000, with the Christmas Day film premieres 'Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire' and 'King Kong' attracting audiences of 400,000 and 367,000 respectively.

RTÉ Television also had nine of the Top 10 programmes broadcast on Christmas Eve and seven of the Top 10 programmes broadcast on St Stephen's Day.
