Former England rugby player Austin Healey has spoken about his departure from 'Strictly Come Dancing' over the weekend and said he is 'gutted' to have been voted off.
Speaking to Claudia Winkleman on 'It Takes Two' Healey said "I'm gutted. We gave it everything but it wasn't enough."
Healey and professional dance partner Erin Boag performed the American Smooth and the Salsa on Saturday. They were eliminated by the panel of judges after being voted into the bottom two alongside TV presenter Lisa Snowdon and her dance partner, Brendan Cole.
Healey said he "really enjoyed" the American Smooth but said he agreed with the judges' criticism that he did not make it look "Hollywood". He said "I think maybe for me I concentrated on how the lifts looked."
The pair found themselves at the bottom of the judges’ leaderboard after Saturday’s performances.
Boag said "The marks were quite low. I don't think you can drop points at this stage in the competition. We really, really wanted to stay in."
