'Strictly Come Dancing' star John Sergeant has received support from a UK cabinet minister Jim Murphy, who claimed that the judges were "taking the show too seriously".

The Scottish Secretary told BBC's 'Question Time' that the show's experts don't know what the programme is all about.

Sergeant quit the show earlier this week after being criticised publicly by the judging panel on 'Strictly Come Dancing'.

Murphy said that the show is "family entertainment and good fun and John is emblematic of that, rather than taking himself so seriously".

"I think we need to get rid of the judges rather than John," he said.
