It has been announced that the animated series 'King of the Hill' is to end.

Variety says that the current 13th season of the show will be the last as US network Fox has decided not to order any more episodes of the series, the second longest running primetime animated show in TV history, behind 'The Simpsons'.

However, the trade daily says that the cancellation of 'King of the Hill' has been announced in the past, only for Fox to order more episodes.

'Family Guy' and 'Futurama' were also previously cancelled, only to continue.

Commenting, 'King of the Hill's executive producer John Altschuler said: "We've been here before. When it's time for 'King of the Hill' to go, it will go. But I think with the ratings this good, and with quality that doesn't seem to be diminishing, it would be very odd for 'King of the Hill' not to keep going."
