'Frazier' star and Republican party supporter Kelsey Grammer has said that Hollywood is hostile to those who do not follow a liberal agenda.

The entertainment world is widely seen as supporting a liberal, Democratic party agenda in the US. In the current presidential election, donations from the movie, TV and music industries recently are around 86% for Democrat candidate Barack Obama versus 14% for the Republican party's John McCain.

When asked if Hollywood is hostile to conservatives, Grammer told Reuters: "Are you kidding me? Of course it's true. I wish Hollywood was a two-party town, but it's not."

Grammer said that he knows of a makeup trailer that sported a sign warning Republicans to keep out and of US war veterans who keep their backgrounds a secret from their Hollywood co-workers because they hear them belittle the military.

He also revealed that, earlier in his career, his job was threatened by a prominent sitcom director who demanded he donate money to politician Barbara Boxer's US Senate campaign. To keep his job, he gave $10,000 to Boxer and the Democrats.

Grammer added that his advice to less established actors was to keep quiet about politics, "unless you think the way you are supposed to think."
