Leona Lewis was booed at last night's Mobo Awards in London after failing to collect her two awards in person.

Lewis won the Best Album award for 'Spirit' and Best Video award for 'Bleeding Love'. Read the review of 'Spirit'.

In a video acceptance speech, she said: "Thank you so much. I'm so sorry I can't be here with you tonight... I'm there in spirit with you all."

Sinitta accepted the Best Video award on her behalf but strained to be heard above the booing.

She said: "I remember when Simon [Cowell] and I first discovered her and she goes from strength to strength. You should be proud of her."

Earlier host Mel B said: "Stop giving Leona Lewis a hard time you lot. It's not her fault she can't be here."
