'The Notebook' star Rachel McAdams has been cast opposite Robert Downey Jr in Guy Ritchie's new film 'Sherlock Holmes'.
The Hollywood Reporter says that McAdams will play Holmes' (Downey) love interest, Irene Adler.
Adler was a character in 'Sherlock Holmes' author Arthur Conan Doyle's 1891 book 'A Scandal in Bohemia'.
The film is due to begin shooting next month.
