The RTÉ documentary 'At Home with the Clearys' has won a prestigious Prix Italia award.
The documentary, which premiered on RTÉ in 2007, has previously scooped an IFTA Award and the 'Best First Time Director Award' at the Celtic Media Festival.
Shot fifteen years ago by the then 22-year-old media student Alison Millar, the film features former priest, Fr Michael Cleary, housekeeper Phyllis and their son Ross.
The Prix Italia citation about the documentary said: "The result is a very well composed documentary, gradually revealing the Father’s shocking double life with his son’s destiny as a major component.”
'At Home with the Cleary's' was commissioned by Kevin Dawson, RTÉ’s Commissioning Editor for Factual Programmes.
Speaking about the award he said: “The Prix Italias are among the world’s most prestigious broadcast awards and it is particularly satisfying that RTÉ has taken such a significant award in this international context."
