Former 'EastEnders' star Phil Daniels was the first contestant to be voted off 'Strictly Come Dancing' last night.

The actor and dance partner Flavia Cacace, who had danced a waltz, were placed in the bottom two with 'Rising Damp' star Don Warrington and his professional partner Lilia Kopylova (cha cha cha) after the public vote.

After the dance-off, head judge Len Goodman had the casting vote.

Goodman said: "They both did make some mistakes and it is very difficult to judge between a waltz that needs so much control and a cha cha cha which needs so much rhythm. But for me the performance I've just seen - the cleanest one - was Don and Lilia."

After the vote, Daniels said: "It was a short ride. It's been fantastic, good fun."

The female contestants will have their first competitive dance on Saturday's show.
