The first night of previews of Arthur Miller’s All My Sons starring Katie Holmes on Broadway was marred slightly last night with protesters picketing outside the Gerald Schoenfield Theatre in New York.
Eonline reports that more than two dozen members of the anti-Scientology group Anonymous joined theatre-goers before the performance.
The protesters wore masks and carried signs saying ‘Scientology kills’ and Free Katie’. One protester told the New York Daily News "We aren't protesting Katie... but Scientology is a cult and once you become a member you can't leave, and we've heard that Katie isn't able to leave because of Tom Cruise."
Holmes’ husband, Tom Cruise, attended the preview and afterwards declared his wife’s performance as ‘extraordinary’. He made no comment on the protest.
The play, which also stars Diane Wiest and John Lithgow, has its official premiere on October 16.
