Coldplay lead the shortlist for this year's Q Awards with four nominations.

They are nominated for Best Album ('Viva la Vida'), Best Track ('Violet Hill'), Best Video ('Violet Hill') and Best Act in the World today.

The Ting Tings are nominated for three awards: Best New Act, Best Track ('That's Not My Name') and Best Video ('That's Not My Name').

Soul singer Duffy is nominated for two awards: Breakthrough Artist and Best Track ('Mercy').

Joining Duffy, The Ting Tings and Coldplay on the Best Track shortlist are Keane ('Spiralling') and Katy Perry ('I Kissed a Girl').

Also nominated for Best Album are: Fleet Foxes (their self-titled album), The Last Shadow Puppets ('The Age of the Understatement'), Vampire Weekend (their self-titled album) and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds ('Dig!!! Lazarus, Dig!!!').

The Best Video shortlist is completed by: Hot Chip ('Ready for the Floor'), Vampire Weekend ('A-Punk') and Goldfrapp ('Happiness').

Kaiser Chiefs, Kings of Leon, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, The Verve and Rage Against the Machine are the nominees for Best Live Act.

The other nominees for Best Act in the World Today are: Oasis, Muse, Metallica and Kings of Leon.

Joining Duffy on the shortlist for Breakthrough Artist are: Adele, Santogold, Bon Iver and Gabriella Cilmi.

Fleet Foxes, Glasvegas, The Last Shadow Puppets and Vampire Weekend are the other nominees for Best New Act.

The winners will be announced on 6 October in London.
