Watch the interview with Will Ferrell and John C Reilly.
In the film the two actors play middle-aged step brothers, still living at home with their pre-retirement parents.
Speaking to RTÉ.ie Entertainment, Ferrell joked about his plans for his own children: "I've a tough plan... I am already planning for both my children to move out by the age of 10, 11... maybe 12. But by 12... out!"
Reilly added that since making the film he and his wife have had a serious discussion about the age they want their children to move out of the family home.
He said: "We love our kids, like most people do. It would be really hard to say goodbye to them. But what's our plan going to be?"
He continued: "Well, how about this: you're invited to leave the house at 18 but you must leave the house by 21, is going be the rule."
'Step Brothers' is in cinemas from today.
