A German comedy group is to produce a film version of the TV series ‘Stromberg’, which is adapted from 'The Office'.

According to ‘The Hollywood Reporter’, Ralf Husmann, the writer of the German series, will write the script for the film, which will be the finale of the sitcom’s fourth season.

Christoph Maria Herbst will star in the David Brent role as the boss of a small time insurance office.

‘Stromberg’ is already in its third season on German TV, meaning it has run for a longer than the original BBC show ‘The Office’, and it has even spawned a spin-off, ‘Beruhmt’ (‘Famous’), which follows Ernie, the German version of Gareth, the character played by Mackenzie Crook.

‘The Office’ has enjoyed widespread success in adapted form. As well as the original and the German 'Office', there are US, French, French Canadian and Chilean versions.
