The Jennifer Lopez film ‘Maid in Manhattan’ is to be remade as a TV show, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The hour-long drama/comedy will not be a straight remake of the 2002 Lopez vehicle, which told the story of Marisa, a single mother working as a maid at an upmarket hotel where an up and coming politician, played by Ralph Fiennes, falls for her.
According to Chad Hodge, who has been signed up to write the new version: "The show is a different maid in a different Manhattan."
The new series will still feature a Latin-American female lead from the Bronx working at a Manhattan hotel, but it will instead focus on her relationships with co-workers and her struggle to "make it in the world".
Lopez and Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, who produced the original, are to executive produce the new project, along with Joe Roth.
