Batman star Christian Bale has spoken for the first time about allegations of assault made against him by his sister and mother.
Police in London are currently investigating claims that the actor, 34, attacked his sister and mother in his suite at the Dorchester Hotel the night before the premiere of new film 'The Dark Knight'.
Bale was bailed to a date in September on Tuesday after being held for more than four hours by police, pending further inquiries.
"It's a deeply personal matter," the Associated Press reported Bale as telling a news conference at a hotel in Barcelona, where he attended another star-studded premier last night.
"I would ask you to respect my privacy in the matter."
