Former 'Frasier' star Kelsey Grammer has admitted that he nearly died last May after suffering a heart attack.
Grammer revealed the true extent of the scare in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. At the time the actor's publicist had described the attack as "mild".
Grammer told the TV show that his heart stopped beating at one point. He said: "They had to blast me twice and get me started all over again. I did think: 'Oh gosh, I have got to hang on. I've got too much junk I've got to take care of. I've got to take care of the family.'"
Grammer, who also starred in 'Cheers', said that he started experiencing chest pains while he was out paddle-boarding with his wife in Hawaii. He described the pain as feeling "like somebody was actually trying to tear my chest apart with, like, the jaws of life."
Grammer's most recent return to sitcom, 'Back To You', was cancelled just three weeks before his health scare.
