Radiohead - Among nominees

The nominees for this year's Mercury Prize have been announced in London.

Radiohead are nominated for their album 'In Rainbows' and are joined on the shortlist by Elbow ('The Seldom Seen Kid'), The Last Shadow Puppets ('The Age of Understatement'), Estelle ('Shine') and Adele ('19').

The nomination for The Last Shadow Puppets means that Arctic Monkeys' star Alex Turner has received his third nomination in as many years.

Arctic Monkeys won the award in 2006 for their debut album, while their follow-up made the shortlist in 2007.

Completing the nominees are: British Sea Power ('Do You Like Rock Music?'), Robert Plant and Alison Krauss ('Raising Sand'), Burial ('Untrue'), Laura Marling ('Alas, I Cannot Swim'), Rachel Unthank and The Winterset ('The Bairns'), Neon Neon ('Stainless Style') and Portico Quartet ('Knee Deep in the North Sea').

The winner will be announced on 9 September.
