Student Alex Evans has been crowned Britain's Top Model, landing a contract with Models 1, a campaign with Max Factor and a front cover with Company magazine.

The 18-year-old beat fellow student Catherine Thomas, also 18, into second place and 22-year-old Stefanie Wilson into third place.

Evans, who hails from Surrey, has just taken her A-Levels and is awaiting the results.

Speaking about winning the show, she said: "Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I could achieve anything like this... but now I have proved myself wrong."

Presenter and judge Lisa Snowdon said: "She's very special looking and all her pictures are fierce - the fashion world is her oyster."
