The surprise hit animated feature film '300' is to return to cinema screens, possibly in the form of a prequel or spin-off film, according to industry sources.
'300' told a stylised animated version of the battle between the army of Greece and 300 Spartans at Thermopylae, and Variety magazine is reporting that graphic novelist Frank Miller is currently writing the book on which the next film will based.
The trade daily also revealed that Zack Snyder, who directed '300', is expected to take the reins again, although he will not make a final decision until the book is completed.
Problems with the story - many of the stars of the original '300' expired by the end of the film, leaving little scope for a follow-up - mean the prequel/spin-off route is being explored rather than a direct sequel.
