Sharon Shannon, Mundy, Damien Dempsey and Shane McGowan are some of the big names lined up to perform at the World Fleadh in Portlaoise, Co Laois, which takes place over the August Bank Holiday weekend.
Returning to Portlaoise following a successful event last year, the World Fleadh will showcase a host of Irish musicians from 31 July to 4 August, with Jack L, Tommy Fleming, The Hothouse Flowers, The Wolfe Tones, Frankie Gavin, Brian Kennedy, Moya Brennan and Lúnasa also joining the bill.
Other events due to take place over the weekend include a host of family and street entertainment, a food market and craft fair, photography and art exhibitions and hot air balloon rides.
Launching the event, festival director Eric Cunningham said: "I am delighted that The World Fleadh will be returning to Portlaoise following the successful way the people of Portlaoise hosted the 2007 event. The line up for 2008 features the most sought after Irish acts and includes events such as Ireland's largest session trail in addition to many terrific scheduled fringe events."
Ticket details for the World Fleadh will be announced through the event's website in the coming days.
