Irish actor Jim Norton was among the winners at the Tony Awards in New York on Sunday night.

Norton, known to millions as Bishop Brennan in 'Father Ted', won the Tony for Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Play for his role as Richard in Conor McPherson's 'The Seafarer'.

'The Seafarer' had been nominated for three other awards: Best Director and Writer for McPherson and Best Featured Actor for Conleth Hill.

The musical 'South Pacific' was the big winner at the Tony Awards, winning in seven categories; other productions to take multiple awards were 'In the Heights' and 'August: Osage County'.
