Based on the best-selling biography ‘Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire’ by Amanda Foreman, 'The Duchess' tells the true story of a beautiful and glamorous figure who was adored by the public.
In a loveless marriage to the Duke, one of the richest men in England, and frustrated by the limitations imposed on her by virtue of her sex and her class, she rebelled, entering into an intense relationship with the beautiful Bess Foster, thereby upsetting the balance of her marriage to the Duke and leading to a complex love triangle, before later embarking on an affair with a future British Prime Minister.
'The Duchess' is due for release on 5 September.
