A painting which hung in a Dublin pub for more than 30 years has been sold at auction for €180,000.
‘A Bird Never Flew On One Wing’ is one of the best-loved works by the artist Harry Kernoff.
Until recently the painting could be seen in the back bar of O'Brien's on Leeson Street.
It was sold this evening at Adam's auctioneers to an anonymous telephone bidder and is expected to remain in the country.
Harry Kernoff was born in London in 1900 but moved to Dublin with his family when he was 14.
He became one of Dublin’s best-known artists, and a leading modernist in the Irish art scene.
He died in 1974.
