US President George W Bush is to appear on the American version of the hit game-show 'Deal Or No Deal', although he won't be in the contestant's chair.
President Bush recorded a message for contestant Captain Joseph Kobes, a US Army officer who has served three tours of duty in Iraq, which was played during the recording of the show in March. The show has not yet aired in the US.
White House spokesman Tony Fratto told Reuters: "The show's producers contacted the White House after learning from Captain Kobes that the president is one of his heroes.
"And it really is, actually, an emotional moment for Captain Kobes and the family. And so we look forward to that, and we all wish him luck as well."
The American version of 'Deal Or No Deal', the original version of which is presented by Noel Edmonds on Channel 4 in the UK, frequently uses celebrity well-wishers, but President Bush is the biggest name to appear on the show so far.
