Francesca Hopkins has become the fourth person to leave the BBC musical talent search 'I’d Do Anything', which means three Irish contestants are among the final eight.
Welsh actress and professional singer Hopkins appeared in a sing-off to stay in the show in Week One but was saved by chief judge Andrew Lloyd-Webber on that occasion. Appearing in the bottom two for the second time, she lost out to Edinburgh singer Ashley Brooks on Sunday's results show.
The winner of the 'I'd Do Anything' will play Nancy in a major West End production of the musical 'Oliver!'.
Hopkins' time on the show was not without controversy as it emerged that she and judge Denise Van Outen had appeared together in the musical 'Rent' and were friends.
At the time, the BBC released a statement saying that: "Denise and Francesca have worked together. It will be clear to viewers they have. Francesca gained her place on merit." Van Outen revealed the pair’s relationship during the first show of the series.
All three Irish contestants are still in the running after Week Four. Jessie Buckley, Niamh Perry and Rachel Tucker all won positive comments from the judges and none has been in the bottom two in voting so far.
