Toni Braxton cancelled her Las Vegas show after being hospitalised overnight with chest pains.
According to Deanna Pettitt, a spokeswoman for the Flamingo Hotel, where the singer has been performing, Braxton was expected to be released after precautionary tests.
The cause of the 40-year-old's chest pain was not immediately known, however Pettit said Braxton has been treated in the past for pericarditis, a viral inflammation of the heart.
The six-time Grammy winner began a two-year run at the Flamingo in August 2006.
The Flamingo president, Don Marrandino said: "We wish Toni a quick recovery and would like her to take the time she needs to regain optimal health".
He added: "We are looking forward to her return at the end of the week."
