Despite her beliefs that growing up in the public eye is tough Jodie Foster wants her children to join her in the movie business but as directors, not actors.
The actress insists she would never ban her two sons, Charles, nine, and Kit, six, from following in her footsteps but she would rather they worked behind the camera.
Talking to AOL movies Foster said: "If they begged and begged and begged [to act], I would understand. I try to get them interested in the technical side of filmmaking."
She added: "It's a beautiful business. I want them to love films, but I want them to be on the side of it that I think, in some ways, can be the most rewarding."
Foster began acting when she was seven-years-old and speaking to the Los Angeles Times she said: "...It's tough to be an adolescent no matter who you are or what you do... especially if you're in front of the public eye.
Speaking about her teenage acting years the two time Oscar winner said: "I wouldn't do it again for anything."
Fosters will be back on Irish cinema screens in 'Nim's Island' opposite Little Miss Sunshine Oscar nominee Abigail Breslin.
