The Light House Cinema, due to open in Smithfield next month, is to show Irish Film and Television Academy award winning short film 'Joyriders' before a screening of the feature film 'Caramel' on 9 May.
'Joyriders' was directed by Trinity College and DIT graduate Rebecca Daly, who is one of only six film-makers selected to participate in the current session of the Cannes Cinéfondation Résidence du Festival in Paris (3 March to 16 July).
The Résidence has hosted more than 90 directors since its creation in 2000 and assisted in the making of more than 50 films, many of which have gone on to win acclaim at international festivals and as theatrical releases.
‘Caramel’, directed by Nadine Labaki, and 'XXY', directed by Lucia Puenzo’s, both of which will be shown at the Light House in May, are among the feature projects made with its help.
