'Coronation Street' bad-boy David Platt has been given a lecture by chatshow host Jeremy Kyle.

The confrontation between the two, regarding David's (played by Jack P Shepherd) recent behaviour, was filmed for use on the ITV website.

Actor Shepherd said: "I have to say that waiting in the green room of 'The Jeremy Kyle Show' was one of the most surreal experiences of my life."

"David is properly messed up and I guess if the storyline was real life, he would definitely qualify for an ear-bashing from Jeremy Kyle."

Kyle said: "Many feel sorry for a person like David Platt. He was abandoned by his father, his mother wanted to abort him and his stepdad wanted him dead. He also feels ostracised and second best to his sister Sarah."

"Some may say he needs an arm around his shoulder, most of the time I think he needs a size 10 shoe up his backside. At the end of the day I could sort him out in about three minutes on my show. That's a fact."

"I had some sympathy for him when he found out his mother coerced his girlfriend into having an abortion, but the boy has no guidance. He needs a male influence in his life."
