The Irish Film Institute will pay tribute to the late 'Pure Mule' star Tom Murphy with a special charity event this month.

'Happy Birthday Mr Murphy' takes place at the IFI in Dublin on Tuesday 15 January, with proceeds going to Irish cancer research.

The event will begin at 6.15pm on 15 January with a selection of highlights of the actor's work on the small screen, compiled by 'Adam & Paul' director Lenny Abrahamson.

This will be followed by a screening of the 1982 drama 'The Lost Hour', which stars a 13-year-old Murphy, and an episode of 'Pure Mule'.

At 8.40pm 'Tom Murphy on the Big Screen' will begin with an overview of Murphy's film career, followed by a screening of the award-winning 'Adam & Paul'.

Tickets for the event are priced €20, with more information available at the IFI website.
