'Coronation Street' star Rob James-Collier has spoken about his character Liam's upcoming fall from a mountain ridge.

In the dramatic scenes, which are due to be screened on Friday 4 January, Liam will fall 200 feet while taking a walk in the Lake District with his fiancée Maria.

The actor spoke about the storyline in an interview on the show's website, saying: "For the first time in a while everything seems to be falling into place for Liam - he's got the dog, the baby on the way and the wedding coming up so they decide to go away for a nice romantic interlude in the Lakes."

"But everything goes wrong when Ozzy runs away. When Liam sees him he carefully steps down a slope and holds onto the branch. But the branch breaks and he slides down. Maria can't hold him forever and poor Liam falls in dramatic fashion."

Speaking about the dramatic scenes, the actor said: "Filming in the Lakes was fantastic. We had a great time although it was very, very cold. The mountain rescue team were brilliant as everything was filmed as realistically as possible."
