A number of 'X Factor' fans are reportedly upset that they could not register their votes for losing finalist Rhydian Roberts last Saturday night.

According to the BBC, several viewers are now claiming that they tried to vote up to 10 times on the night but could not get through on the Welshman's phoneline.

Rhydian Roberts was beaten by Scottish singer Leon Jackson in the final of the show on Saturday night.

Earlier in the night host Dermot O'Leary had announced that there was only 1% separating the top two acts.

The BBC website reports that a fan of the show, Gwyneth Greenslade, said that she phoned 10 times to vote for Roberts but could not get through.

She said that two of her friends also tried to vote for the Welsh opera singer seven times and 10 times respectively and also failed to register any votes.

Mrs Greenslade said: "If you ring 10 times you expect to get through - I was very cross."

"A lot of other people in this area said they couldn't get through. It seems to be very unfair."

The reports also details other complaints from fans who failed to register their votes because of busy networks.

A number of radio stations in Wales have now banned winner Leon Jackson's song from being played because of listeners' complaints over voting on the night of the final.

A spokesperson for 'The X Factor' said there were no reports of problems with the phone lines for the final.
