'GMTV' presenter Kate Garraway was last night voted off 'Strictly Come Dancing' after failing to impress the judges.

Kate became the seventh celebrity to get the boot from the BBC reality talent show after coming in the bottom two with football legend John Barnes.

The television presenter and her partner Anton Du Beke failed to wow the judges in the dance-off, as well as in their first performance of the Paso Doble. The pair scored a total of 21 out of 40 putting them at the bottom of the leader board.

Judge Arlene Phillips told Kate: "Less like a cape more like a shag carpet. Plonky plonky." Bruno Tonioli, who awarded the couple five points, said: "Tutankhamen in a frock would have done a better job. The footwork was mummified."

Head judge, Len Goodman, said: "Like the Perils of Pauline every week a disaster but she always comes back. I liked the steps but it lacked a bit of fire and drama."

Fellow judge Craig Revel Horwood said: "Kate you did the best you could do but it lacked any attack."

The judges were unanimous on their decision to vote Kate and Anton off the show. Craig said: "I have a responsibility to choose the best dancer so I save John and Nicole."

It was Kate's first time in the dance-off, despite coming bottom with the judges five times.
