The actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers has been charged with two offences under the Public Order Act.

He was arrested in Dublin Airport yesterday afternoon.

'The Tudors' star was due to fly back to London having appeared on RTÉ's 'Tubridy Tonight' show on Saturday night.

He was charged with being drunk and a breach of the peace and was released on cash bail.

The 30-year-old is due to appear before Dublin District Court next month.

A spokesperson for Dublin Airport said there had been an incident at the airport, with a passenger refused access to a flight and escorted from "airside" back through security to the main airport.

Meyers was in Dublin to promote his new movie August Rush, which opens on Friday.
