Pierce Brosnan is to start shooting the sequel to his 1999 box office hit 'The Thomas Crown Affair' in January.
Variety reports that Paul Verhoeven ('Black Book', 'Basic Instinct') will be in the director's chair for the film.
The trade daily says that Rene Russo will not return as Crown's (Brosnan) love interest in the new film, that role has yet to be cast.
The sequel takes place in Europe and the Middle East and finds master thief Crown mixed-up in an age-old feud and forced to decide how much he will risk for love.
Brosnan will also act as producer on the film.
