Irish actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers is to star in the big screen version of the classic comic 'Mandrake the Magician'.
The Hollywood Reporter says that the updated version of the comic will find Mandrake as an extreme escape artist who gets caught up in the world of espionage.
Rhys Meyers will work with 'The Scorpion King' director Chuck Russell on the film, which will begin shooting early next year in the US and China.
The actor will next be seen on Irish cinema screens in the fantasy 'August Rush'; it opens on 23 November.
