Rocker Meatloaf will take to the stage tonight, just two days after telling an audience he could "no longer continue".
‘The Bat Out Of Hell’ star cut short his performance after 70 minutes in Newcastle on Wednesday night, telling fans: "This is the last show I may ever do in my life."
But his promoters later issued a statement saying tonight's concert at Birmingham's NEC Arena would go ahead as planned.
Meatloaf, born Marvin Lee Aday, was performing a show at Newcastle's Metro Arena, during which his voice seemed weaker than usual, when he sang the first line of Paradise By The Dashboard Light before reportedly announcing: "I can no longer continue. I take my coat off and thank you for 30 years."
A doctor was summoned and the 60-year-old was diagnosed as suffering from exhaustion and urged to rest.
The rocker resumed the European leg of the Three Bats Tour in the middle of last month, and the next date is scheduled for tonight in Birmingham.
His promoters issued a brief statement via the venue insisting the show must go on.
It said: "As far as we are concerned the show in Birmingham is on as planned."
The Newcastle Metro Arena marketing manager Paul Tappenden said: "He was suffering from severe strain and he has been told he has been overdoing things a bit. He is feeling a lot better."
A concert-reviewer on the last.fm website said Meat Loaf looked tired at the Newcastle show and his voice seemed much weaker than usual. The fan wrote: "Unfortunately a minute into Paradise By The Dashboard Light things took a turn for the worst and he could not carry on. He left the stage wishing everyone well and thanking them for coming to what is the last ever Meat Loaf gig.”
