Pop singer Britney Spears has claimed that we live in a "cruel" world while giving her first interview since her child custody battle began.
The 25-year-old singer spoke to Ryan Seacrest on his radio show on KIIS FM, a Los Angeles-based station.
When asked if recent reports about her parenting skills bothered her, Spears said: "People say what they want and do what they do. It’s sad how people... how cruel our world can be."
"But at the end of the day you got to know in your heart that you are doing the best that you can."
"You just try to keep doing what you do and as long as you know what's up and you know what's true, that's all that really matters," she said.
When Seacrest asked Spears if she was doing everything that she could for her two children, she replied: "Oh God, yes."
Spears was later asked how often she was allowed to see her sons. She replied: "That's like all in the court, stuff like that. My lawyers know all that stuff."
On Tuesday last a Los Angeles court commissioner ruled that Spears can visit 2-year-old Sean Preston and 1-year-old Jayden James three times a week with a court monitor present.
