Irish actor Pierce Brosnan is being investigated on possible assault charges against a photographer.
Los Angeles County Sheriff's department spokesperson Steve Whitmore confirmed the allegation, saying: "We are investigating Mr Brosnan, who is alleged to have committed a battery."
Whitmore said the alleged incident took place last Friday at a mall in Malibu but declined to give any further details.
Celebrity website TMZ claims that a witness said that the photographer complimented Brosnan on his 'James Bond' films.
The witness claimed that the actor then got into a scuffle with the photographer.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's department said that the results of their investigation will be referred on to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, where a decision will be made on whether or not to bring charges.
Brosnan's spokesperson was not available to comment on the allegations.
