Marie Osmond has been left red faced after she collapsed after her performance on the US version of 'Strictly Come Dancing', 'Dancing with the Stars' which airs on the ABC network.

The 48-year-old singer and mother of eight fell to the floor while receiving her comments from the judges after her samba routine last night and the programme was forced to go into a commercial break.

When the programme returned host Tom Bergeron informed the audience that Osmond's first words upon awakening were, "Oh, crap."

A network spokesperson later said that the singer would be fully checked out by a doctor.

She later apologised for her performance claiming the collapse was sparked by over exertion. "Once in a while that happens to me, when I get winded and I stop breathing," she explained backstage. "I'm so sorry."
