N Sync star Lance Bass has revealed that he tried to reach out to troubled pop singer Britney Spears.
The singer told GQ magazine that the pair were good friends but he couldn't get through to her recently.
When asked if he had been in contact with Spears, Bass said: "I tried. I tried. She's my neighbour in Beverly Hills. She lives next door."
"I tried to get in touch with her – I wanted to be that friend to help her. I don't think she's having any of her old friends anymore."
He also said that the pair were previously close, with Bass even telling Spears that he was gay two years before he went public with the news.
He said: "I felt the need to share something. So I sat her on my bed, and I'm like, Well, I'm gay."
