British author Doris Lessing has won the 2007 Nobel Prize for Literature.
The Swedish Academy described Lessing as an "epicist of the female experience, who with scepticism, fire and visionary power has subjected a divided civilisation to scrutiny".
The 87-year-old author receives 10m Swedish Kronor (€1.097m) as part of the award.
Among Lessing's books are: 'The Grass Is Singing', 'The Children of Violence' series, 'The Golden Notebook', 'Memoirs of a Survivor', 'The Fifth Child' and her latest novel 'The Cleft'.
