Pop singer Britney Spears has obtained a new driving licence as part of the process to win back joint custody of her two young sons.
Spears was ordered by a court to hand the children over to their father Kevin Federline after she allegedly failed to comply with court conditions requesting that she present her driving licence and undergo random alcohol and drug tests.
According to People magazine, the singer has now been issued with an interim licence from the California Department of Motor Vehicles.
Mike Marando from the department said: "She has fulfilled her requirements for a California driver's licence."
On Monday Spears handed 2-year-old Sean Preston and 1-year-old Jayden James over to Federline's bodyguard and then travelled to the Department of Motor Vehicles.
Marando said: "Ms Spears actually took and passed a written test in April. She was fingerprinted and photographed yesterday. She will be issued a formal licence in the mail soon."
Spears is due in court later today for another hearing in relation to custody of her children.
