Actor Ben Stiller says his close friend Owen Wilson is "doing really well" following a reported suicide attempt last August.
Wilson was rushed to hospital on 26 August following the attempt. He is currently recovering from the incident and last month pulled out of Stiller’s forthcoming comedy, ‘Tropic Thunder’.
Stiller told US chat show host Ellen DeGeneres: "He's doing really well. I sort of like to protect his privacy, because I feel like it's his own thing. But he's a really good friend of mine. He's an incredible guy and I wish him, as everybody does, all the best."
Meanwhile Ben’s dad Jerry, who is a close friend of the Wilson family, is adamant Wilson will make a full recovery.
Speaking at the premiere of his son’s new film 'The Heartbreak Kid' he said: "I was surprised to hear about Owen, but I'm sure he will recover. I know he'll put his life back together.
"Him and Ben have been very close for most of their careers, and Ben acted as an advocate in his intervention and all that stuff."
Meanwhile, Wilson has given his blessing for his new film, 'The Darjeeling Limited', in which he plays a suicidal man, to be released.
Director Wes Anderson said: "Postponing the film's release is not what I want and not what Owen wants. Owen is very happy we're releasing it now."
