The new series of 'Doctor Who' will feature the show's most ambitious episode to date as the Doctor (David Tennant) and new assistant Donna (Catherine Tate) visit the Roman Empire.
In the episode the duo arrive in Pompeii in 79 AD, just before the eruption of Mount Vesuvius.
They are then faced with a dilemma: warn the residents or let them fend for themselves.
The episode, which was shot at the world famous Cinecitta studios in Rome this month, will be screened on BBC One in the spring of next year.
Commenting, the series' Executive Producer and Head Writer, Russell T Davies, said: "Arriving in Pompeii marks the start of another exciting adventure for the Doctor and Donna. Donna is stunned to find herself in the midst of history's most famous volcanic eruption. Viewers can expect many more ambitious storylines and a whole host of guest stars in 2008."
