'Coronation Street' was named Best Soap at the Inside Soap awards in London last night.

It is the first time 'Coronation Street' has won the award in over a decade; it was also named Best Soap at the TVQuick and TVChoice awards earlier this month.

Both the ITV show and its BBC rival 'EastEnders' won in five categories at the awards last night, which are voted on by readers of Inside Soap magazine.

There was success in the acting categories for 'Coronation Street's stars: Antony Cotton (Sean Tully) won Best Actor; Jack P Shepherd (David Platt) won Best Bad Boy and Rob James-Collier (Liam Connor) won the awards for Best Newcomer and Sexiest Male.

'EastEnders' star Lacey Turner won the Best Actress award for her portrayal of Stacey Slater and shared the Best Couple award with co-star Charley Clements (Bradley Branning).

Sophie Thompson, who played Phil Mitchell's unhinged lover Stella, won the Best Bitch award while the story involving her and Ben (Charlie Jones) was named Best Storyline.

Kara Tointon, who plays Dawn Swann in 'EastEnders', won the Best-Dressed soap star award.

There were two awards for 'Emmerdale': Eden Taylor-Draper (Belle Dingle) was named Best Young Actor and Charlie Hardwick (Val Lambert) won the Funniest Performance award.

'Hollyoaks' star Roxanne McKee (Louise Summers) was named Sexiest Actress.

'The Bill' won the Best Drama award for the second year in succession.
