Pop singer Britney Spears has been charged with hit and run and driving without a valid licence.
A spokesperson for the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office confirmed that the 25-year-old star was charged with one count of hit and run causing property damage and one count of driving without a valid California driver's licence on Friday.
Spears is accused of hitting a parked car in a carpark in San Fernando Valley and driving away on 6 August last.
The victim filed an accident report at North Hollywood Community Police Station on 9 August.
The spokesperson for the City Attorney's Office did not know how much damage was done to either car in the alleged accident.
The charges faced by Spears each carry a maximum penalty of six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.
The singer was notified of the charges by letter on Friday. A hearing has been set for 10 October.
Representatives for Spears have not commented on the charges.
